Edison Award (June 2010)
Awarded by: Edison Electric Institute
PGE’s Selective Water Withdrawal, the only known floating surface fish collection facility coupled with power generation in the world, was selected as the winner of the 2010 Edison Award, the electric utility industry’s highest honor. The annual award recognizes U.S. and international electric utilities for their innovation and role in advancing the industry. President and CEO Jim Piro accepted the award June 14 at EEI’s Annual Convention and Expo in Hollywood, Fla. Learn more.

Energy Star Recognition (June 2010)
Awarded by: ENERGY STAR
One World Trade Center, home to PGE headquarters, received a special rating from ENERGY STAR, a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy that assists individuals and companies in saving money and protecting the environment through energy-efficient products and practices. For 2009, the building received a rating of 83 which meant the building performed better than 83 percent of all similar buildings in the nation.

Franklin Award (June 2010)
Awarded by: MAILCOM
Wes Friesen, manager of Revenue Collections & Community Offices, was recently presented with the prestigious Franklin Award at the MAILCOM 2010 Annual Convention. The Franklin Award honors leaders whose contributions maintain the value of mail communications.

GridWise Applied Award (June 2010)
Awarded by: GridWise Architecture Council (GWAC)
GWAC recently presented Conrad Eustis, a project manager with Transmission & Distribution Services at WTC, a 2010 GridWise Applied Award for helping to advance openness in the smart electric power system of the future. Eustis received the award for his work within the home-to-grid community.

Utah Lineman’s Rodeo Results (June 2010)
Lineman rodeos test journeymen linemen and apprentices on their abilities, emphasizing teamwork, speed, accuracy and most importantly, commitment to safety. Rodeos occur in cities around the nation, with top performers progressing to the annual International Lineman’s Rodeo in Kansas. Since 1993, the Pacific Northwest Lineman’s Rodeo has been the home rodeo for PGE participants.

Founder Award (May 2010)
Awarded by: Oregon Food Bank
PGE received the Founder Award from Oregon Food Bank for our long-time support of the nonprofit organization. For more than a decade, PGE, our employees and retirees have supported the Oregon Food Bank in many ways, including donating more than 5,000 volunteer hours and 6,000 pounds of food. Our Employee Giving Campaign has generated almost $500,000 and corporate giving totals more than $240,000. In addition, donation envelopes in PGE bills have resulted in more than $500,000 in contributions from customers.

Judges Award for Special Recognition in Environmental Excellence (May 2010)
Awarded by: Federal Highway Administration
PGE received the Federal Highway Administration’s Judges Award for Special Recognition in Environmental Excellence, which pays tribute the Oregon Solar Highway Demonstration Project. The Oregon Solar Highway Demonstration Project, a collaboration between PGE, U.S. Bank and ODOT, is a 594-panel, 104-kilowatt ground-mounted solar array located inside the interchange of Interstate 5 and Interstate 205 in Tualatin. The array was brought online in December 2008 and is producing about 112,000 kilowatt hours a year, or 28 percent of the annual electricity used to light the interchange.

No. 1 ranking for number of business and residential renewable power customers (May 2010)
Awarded by: Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)
PGE was ranked No. 1 in the NREL’s annual rankings of the nation’s top utility green pricing programs. At the end of 2009, PGE had nearly 73,000 business and residential renewable customers, or 10.2 percent of its eligible customers, enrolled in a PGE renewable power program, which is well over the national average of 2 percent participation rate for other utilities. This marks the first time PGE has received NREL’s No. 1 ranking for number of business and residential renewable power customers. Learn more.

No. 1 ranking for renewable power sales to residential renewable power customers (May 2010)
Awarded by: Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)
For the fifth consecutive year, PGE maintained its No. 1 ranking of total renewable energy sales to residential customers. PGE customers purchased nearly 741 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy in 2009 (9 percent more than in 2008), which is equivalent to the entire annual output of a 200-megawatt wind farm.

PGE also holds the No. 2 ranking of total renewable energy sales to residential and commercial customers combined. In addition, PGE moved up from the No. 3 to the No. 2 position in the nation for the percentage of customers who purchase a renewable power option. At the end of 2009, PGE had 10.2 percent of eligible customers purchasing a renewable power option. Learn more.

Hope Award (April 2010)
Awarded by: Oregon & SW Washington Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
PGE received the Hope Award from the Oregon & SW Washington Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for our long-time support of the nonprofit organization. Steve Hawke, senior vice president of Customer Service & Delivery, accepted the Hope Award during the JDRF’s 2010 Hope Gala on April 24 at The Governor Hotel. Since 1999, PGE and our employees have supported JDRF in many ways, including participating on PGE walk teams, in sneaker sales and hosting the Kid’s Corner for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, for which Hawke has served as the corporate chair for the last three years. In addition, during the last decade, employee and corporate contributions to JDRF have totaled more than $100,000.

National Management Plus Award (April 2010)
Awarded by: National Association for Printing Leadership
PGE earned a Silver Award in the Management Plus Program, a corporate development and assessment program for the printing industry. PGE was the highest-ranked in-plant operation in the nation. 2010 marks the third consecutive year PGE has been the highest-ranked in-plant company, and, as result, PGE is receiving recognition in three trade journals: In Plant Graphics, American Printer and NAPL Business Review.

Customer Excellence Award for Technical Innovation (April 2010)
Awarded by: NICE Systems
NICE Systems is presenting PGE with the 2010 Customer Excellence Award for Technical Innovation, which recognizes PGE’s installation and implementation of a new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) call recording, coaching and analytics system at our Tualatin Contact Center. PGE is one of 13 companies to receive a 2010 Excellence Award, and the only organization to receive an accolade for Technical Innovation.

Advocacy Excellence Award (January 2010)
Awarded by: Edison Electric Institute (EEI)
PGE received the highest honor for advocacy from EEI. The award recognizes PGE’s work regarding “Community Conversations: About Oregon’s Energy Future,” a series of meetings in 2009 that introduced Jim Piro as the company’s new president and CEO and engaged PGE’s leadership team in conversations with community leaders throughout our operating area.
